Teaching the Standards through
Arts and P.E.
Learning happens in the classroom, at the art easel and out on the playground. AmeriSchools knows that children learn in many different settings and that art, music and a healthy body are all important parts of development. In order to make sure students have opportunities to develop all their talents AmeriSchools provides SPECIALS throughout the week.
- P.E. includes stacker competitions, exercising with music, volleyball, and general fitness
- Music includes learning about notes and scales as well as learning songs for schoolwide performances.
- Art is everywhere around us and integrated into all content areas. Hands-on art projects have included ancient Egypt and Native American life as well as seasonal art. Come in and enjoy the beautiful original art your children create.
AIMS & STANFORD 10 TESTING
Good attendance paid off for many students during the Spring AIMS & Stanford 10 testing!
Names of students who had perfect attendance during the two week period of testing were entered into a drawing for prizes that included: gift cards, board games, soccer balls, basketballs and even bicycles! Way to go!
Yuma South Charter School Spotlight on Leadership
My name is Ashley Fox and I am enjoying my 5th year at AmeriSchools Academy South Campus. I am excited for the opportunity to serve as Principal for the upcoming 2012-2013 school year. As a life long resident of Yuma, I am committed to providing my students and staff with a hands on learning environment that utilizes the Community as Laboratory.
I received my Bachelors Degree in Elementary Education from Northern Arizona University and most recently, my Masters Degree in Early Childhood Education. As a college graduate, I understand the overall importance that a quality education plays in ones life. I am committed to providing my students and staff with support, guidance and confidence in them to help them reach for their dreams.
This year I will strive to maintain the AmeriSchools belief of individualized education in a safe learning environment. I am eager to get started and am looking forward to working closely with the AmeriSchools staff, students, parents and families!
