ACPA Mission Statement

The Faculty of ACPA is dedicated to fostering the growth and development of our students, academically, socially and personally. Our goal is to graduate students who will be competitively skilled, self-motivated, value-centered citizens of the global community ready to pursue a college career. Our ideal is a rigorous pursuit of knowledge and its application in an interdisciplinary and integrated core curriculum ripe with real-life interactions and experiences.

Community Exploration Week

Students and Staff loaded on board the charter bus for ACPA’s annual trip to San Diego. The staff invited 48 students who demonstrated ACPA principles/standards and contributed to school culture throughout the year. San Diego provides an opportunity to reflect on personal growth and develop community, explore San Diego’s history and marine environment while experiencing life in a youth hostel. Ms. Mendoza explains, “This week is an opportunity to extend our curriculum, practice communication, reflect on personal growth and goals for the future and explore an environment that is very different but shares common history.” Some highlights of this trip included a visit to the world famous San Diego Zoo (personal and upfront with elephant trainers) and career days at San Diego State University. Students are asked to journal throughout the trip and the journals are returned to graduating seniors. Students report that this is a once in a lifetime experience that they will remember forever.

Tucson Exploration

While some students were off in San Diego, the remaining students and staff members set out to explore Tucson, reflect on personal growth and provide community service. Students rotated each day to participate in activities and experiences designed to enrich the curriculum. The schedule included a drama workshop with Live Theater Director, Kristy Loerna, team building and a 4 mile hike in Mt. Lemon, a discovery of the power of personal voice with The Great Debaters, and community service at Ben’s Bells, the Diaper Bank, and working with children at AmeriSchools K-8 campus.
