  J. Although our fun filled school year has come to an end we would like all of our student’s to stay active with your learning throughout the summer break! Below you will find a few resources and supplementals to help your child prepare for the next up and coming school year. Have a wonderful summer and don’t forget to read, read, and read! 1.       Get Ready To Read This Summer! Please visit http://www.scholastic.com/summerreading/index.htm for a wonderful summer reading challenge that Scholastic has to offer! Read books and log your minutes.

2.       Also check out this great deal at chuckecheese.com. Chuck E Cheese is offering 10 free tokens to any kid that completes the Summer Reading calendar. Just simply keep track for two weeks and take it to any Chuck E Cheese and they will give you $10 free tokens for free!

 

3.       We also have Barnes & Noble's annual summer reading program for children kicks off in May.  Kids in grades 1 through 6 can participate. Fun Activities Include: Cracking a secret code to learn about Ben Franklin, answering questions about books and libraries, using the dictionary, inventing and an adventure story prompt and writing a memoir. Through the program, kids read any eight books, list and record their answers to the 39 clues activity book sand record the books you read in your passport. Completed passports will receive a coupon for a free book.   A parent/guardian signs it when it's complete. Then bring their completed passport to a Barnes & Noble store between May 25 & Sept. 27, 2010. 

 

4.       Pizza Hut Book-It Program:  The popular Book-It incentive program actually takes a break during the summer. However, Pizza Hut’s website has great resources that help your kid continue to reading during the summer. Print off a tracking calendar and read their great reading tips.

 

5.       PBS Kids Super Why! Right-on Readathon:  Younger kids who are fans of this show will get a kick out of logging books they have read on downloadable worksheets. They receive a certificate of achievement and a bookmark (printable) when they complete the program.

 

6.       6. Please visit www.yumacountylibrary.org for more information on their Summer Reading Program! Our local library is a WONDERFUL and cool place to relax and kick back with a great book, sight word flash cards, or an activity!
