Dear Parents:

It's hard to believe the last few days of school are here! We are very proud of all our students for the effort they have put forth this year.  It is amazing to see how they have grown academically and socially since the beginning of the year.  Our hopes are that a strong foundation has been established so that your child can go forth with much confidence and experience academic success in the years ahead.

Although the summer is a time to relax and have fun, please keep in mind that it is also important for your child to continue academic learning.  Please have your child continue to practice the sight words and digraphs that were sent home during the school year.  Reading and math workbooks for first and second grade are also a good way to reinforce skills so that they are not lost during the summer.  Weekly visits to the library or book store are other great ways to encourage reading.  There are also many interactive educational websites for math and reading that are beneficial.  The following are a few we recommend:

     www.primarygames.com

     www.coolmath4kids.com

     www.starfall.com

It has been a pleasure teaching your child this year.  We feel confident that your child is well-prepared to take on the challenges of second level with much confidence.

Have a wonderful and relaxing summer!

Sincerely,

Mrs. Bielke & Ms. Martinez
