Mrs. Mir’s Class

6th Level

Special Announcements

School is almost over and we are getting ready to end this year with joy and pride. There will be no homework this week; however, I have a few ideas for you and your child to try during this summer break.

·        Reading Incentive program: Several places such as Barnes &Noble, Pizza Hut and the Yuma County Library offer reading programs in which children are encouraged to read and in exchange, they may win free books or other prizes.

·        Math Skills practice: The children must know their times tables before they enter the 6th level. Every math problem is based on either addition or multiplication. Please practice them with your children any chance you get.

·        Ideas for writing: During a vacation, your child can become a reporter and record people’s reactions to a specific place.

Let your child be a TV critic and let them write a review of their favorite program.

Let them be your personal secretary and let them write your grocery lists.

Encourage them to keep a summer journal and remind them to write in it daily.

·        Some websites to keep them entertained :

·        www.timeforkids.com

·        www.discoverykids.com

·        www.scholastic.com

·        Both these websites are free and provide an abundance of information on latest events around the world.
